MOSES SERUGO
BIO
Moses Serugo is the founder and curator of African Movie Night Kampala, a film exhibition initiative aimed at bringing independent African cinema to cineastes in the capital city of his home country Uganda. In doing this he aims to counter the Hollywood and Bollywood hegemony by getting some of the best films from and about Africa to travel beyond the traditional film festival circuit. However, with the current disruptions in cinema distribution, Serugo hopes to start a TV channel (ad-revenue FTA or pay-TV) to mainstream African cinema on the continent and a streaming platform for audiences in the Diaspora. Serugo has also worked as an arts journalist in Uganda and as a publicist for the Amakula Kampala International Film Festival – Uganda’s premier showcase for independent cinema.
